My format is string name...(more) (EADG) followed by fret number. I will abbreviate the beat (W~H~Q~E~S~). For a tie, it's a dash inbetween, ie. 8 beats of an Eb in 4/4 would be "D1W-W~." Rests are abbreviated like the beat, but with an 'R' after it, ie. a whole rest would be "WR~." I may do something like "A1110-00012\E~" meaning they are all eighths, except for that 0-0 which would be a quarter note. A grace note will just be "g" before the grace note followed by a slash, ie. 'Ag7/9' would be a grace from 7 to 9 on the A string.
