Kim Tae-yeon (Hangul 김태연; Hanja 金泰妍), known officially as Taeyeon (pronounced /tai:yon/), was born on March 9, 1989. She is a South Korean singer, known for being the leader of 9-member girl group Girls' Generation (소녀시대), formed by SM Entertainment in 2007. Taeyeon and the other eight members of her group debuted on July 19, 2007. She has since ventured out into DJ-ing and reality-variety shows, along with various solo singles.
