Montes (Ciudad Bolívar, Bolívar State, Venezuela, September 2, 1955) is a Venezuelan composer and guitarist who currently resides in Europe. Montes as a child had guitar lessons with Carlos Atilano and Leopoldo Igarza in Caracas. With a scholarship from the Ministry for Culture in 1976 he moved to London, where he went in 1982 with students of John Duarte to study music theory and composition at the Royal College of Music and at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Adrian Thorne.
